FREEDOM CURRICULUM

Freedom Groups at Freedom Church are an in-depth look at “who we are” as Christ followers. We believe no matter where we are in our relationship with God, there is more for us here on earth beyond salvation! For each of us, our identity should be secure as God’s sons and daughters, but there are things that keep us from truly understanding and experiencing this.

In our Freedom Groups, we will look at our past and present through self-awareness to see if there are things holding us back from the future that God has prepared for us. Freedom Groups are not just about knowledge acquisition, but taking the knowledge we acquire and allowing our lives to be transformed through the love of the Father, the power of Jesus and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The goal is to learn and experience how we can fight off Satan’s attempts to entangle us in sin and instead embrace our identity as sons and daughters of God who are growing in an intimate relationship with Him as Father!

FALL FREEDOM INTENSIVE | Oct 13-Nov 13

Over the course of 5 weeks in October, we will be hosting a Freedom Intensive designed to help you take the steps necessary to walk in the freedom God wants you to have. Much like the normal 10 week process, we will deal with major issues like identity, acknowledging hurt, forgiveness, how to fight, dealing with fear, rejection, abuse, and more.

Each session will be 2 hours and will start at 1 pm in the sanctuary. Based on the fact that the class isn’t effective if you miss sections, we do ask that you attend at the minimum 4 of the 5 weeks. To be eligible for the Freedom Conference on November 15 and 16th, you will need to be at at least 4 sessions.

There is no cost to attend and childcare can be provided if needed, but you will need to register childcare in advance.

The Freedom Conference is a Friday night ands Saturday morning event that serves as a capstone for the freedom God brought over the 5 week class and will go from 6:30 to 9 pm on Friday and 9-12 noon on Saturday. We will have teams to pray with you and opportunities for further help if needed. Childcare will be provided if needed, but you will need to register childcare in advance.

How Does This Work?

The Freedom Class is a 10 week course conducted either in person (preferred) or via Zoom. The class is most effective in small groups of 7 or less, but can be individually, in small groups, or in larger groups as well. The larger groups will be a more cursory look at freedom. Small and individual classes are far more effective at getting to the core.

The curriculum comes with a guide, and if you’d like to have a physical guide, there is a charge of $30 to secure the materials, which includes the guide, a journal, and a pen. We do have the guide online as well that you can find below.

The concepts we discuss build on each other, and while it’s possible to “catch up” on content you may have missed, if you can see in your schedule you will need to miss more than two of the weekly scheduled group gatherings, we’d like to recommend you postpone being part of a Freedom Group until a future semester. This will help your own involvement and engagement be at the highest level, as your conversations together are such a healing part of the Freedom journey. It also will keep the conversations and story shared by others from feeling compromised by inconsistency of attendance among group members.

Please Read: As you prepare for your freedom journey, there is a very important acknowledgement we’d like to make sure we communicate. Freedom groups are such a powerful healing part of our Discipleship journey in becoming a fully engaged follower of Jesus. We recognize however that those who are new to faith, and especially those who have not yet said “Yes” to a relationship with Jesus, may not fully understand and thereby struggle with some of the concepts Freedom presents. If you’ve not said Yes to a relationship with Jesus, we’d love to recommend that a Freedom group is likely not your best fit for a Next Step.
